For some years I have worked with ideas of liminal space – most recently the overlooked, throwaway, uncared for elements of urban landscape that connect or separate areas of modern towns and cities; the boundary walls, walkways, bridges and underpasses. I am fascinated by the seemingly accelerated rates of ageing and decay seen in these features. Walls appear a distilled record of the passage of time – the weathering, sagging, cracks and repairs, the ghosts of old windows and doors.

In response these pieces have been made over a long period of time. They have been put together, fired, pondered and have then been through several cycles of being painted, dripped on, spattered with oxides and fired again.
